my 23" cinema display suddenly started making a faint humming noise. Anyone know what this is about?

If it's one of the very old Cinema Displays (in the plastic housing)…it's simply a sign that it is getting worn out. Not that it will all of a sudden not work tomorrow…just a sign of age & use.

With my really old CRT monitors, the common culprit for humming was dust that resonated with the power-supply of the monitor. While the Cinema Display isn't a CRT monitor, it might still be the dust.

Grab a air spray (with NO liquid, just the air) canister and shoot it into whatever holes the Cinema display has and see what happens..

It could be dust like mentioned or just its time to go..
But speaking of the older Cinema displays, I really wished Apple made a more affordable 23" or 24" thunderbolt display.

Does that display have the power supply built in? That could be also where the humming is coming from.

…did what you said. Noise gone, Also another prob, flashing light in lower right corner of display. Gone. Steady light now. No noise. No flashing light! Yay! This is an old machine, want to say since 2005, but it works better now than before. Maybe for once, in buying machines, i got lucky :)
Thank You so very much!

Just be aware dee gee these problems do start to accumulate on older hardware prior to complete failure. Trusts your luck holds out.
