Moving to macbook pro OS 10.6.8 from desk top PC. Have Quicken on the PC but getting negative reviews for the MAC version. Like Quicken on the PC so I'm looking for something similar.

I use Checkbook by splasm software. People I have heard like gnu cash as well. There will be more to chime in I am sure..

Actually there are only two checkbook programs that are worthwhile for the Mac. Others are more in the line of finance programs which are overkill for a simple checkbook program.
1. "checkbook" and "checkbook pro" by Splasm Software (can be downloaded from the Mac App Store)
2. "Just Checking" by Just Apps software (also available in the Mac App store)
I have used both and prefer "Just Checking" for its simplicity and ease of use.
