I have an older 27" Apple cinema display model A1316. I have the cable that came with it that has USB,Mini Display port and Magsafe.
I have a 2019 Macbook pro 16". I was wanting to know if there is an adapter to safely charge my M2019 Macbook pro 16 with the magsafe plug and if it would harm my Macbook.

Thanks for response

Well I learned something today. Yes, they make adapters for magsafe to USB-C

Since the adapter is made for converting I don’t believe it will hurt your MBP. The MBP has built in power protection to regulate incoming current. Also the Apple cinema display ports are supposed to be able to charge your MBP.

I've tried two of those, and while they worked for a few days they soon packed in and would no longer charge. I may have just been unlucky - twice.

Well as I stated I was not aware they even made adapter like that. So at least we know it is possible.

I don't think you can do that.

EDIT: The OP had two threads with same name, but different subjects. Somebody merged them, but now everything is out of order. This post was an answer in the second thread, where the OP asked if you can charge one MBP from another.

The duplicate titled post was deleted by the staff.

@bottlecapr:

Please repost your question but use a different title. Posting two threads with the same title will result in one of them getting deleted.

Thanks.

I take your point, Jake. I got completely confused when following the other post. The Admins undoubtedly did the correct thing in merging the posts. In such a situation, I think the best option is to use the "Reply" function, as I have done here, to associate question with response.

I haven't been using the reply function because it starts making threads really long visually when every post is repeated in the replies. But I think you may be right, it's how we have to operate now.

We sometimes run into problems with this software when merging or removing posts. Under the old software, merging and moving single threads to line up with a duplicate was easy. Not so with XenForo.

I believe what happened here is when a moderator removed the dupe it also removed the replies that went along with it.

Which is why I asked the OP to post again. Unfortunate that this will sometimes happen.

I know, I know, blame it on the software. :rolleyes:

No, it removed the OP's post, but left my reply in the stream, which then made zero sense. That's why I edited it to clarify what the otherwise nonsensical post meant. The removed post asked if it is possible to charge on MBP from another MBP.
