I have an iBook G4, with Panther OS X 10.3.9 and i was wondering if it was possible to update my computer and install leopard. I know you can update the operating system with Windows computers but i wasn't sure if it was possible to do this on macs as well.
If it is possible, how would you go about doing this?

Providing the iBook meets the minimum specs:

Put DVD in.

Run DVD.

Select which HDD to install on.

Click Update.

Enjoy your new OS.

No, Leopard is not out yet until October, I guess he meant Tiger. And if he really meant Leopard because he downloaded it from somewhere I must say that is certainly ILLEGAL and won't be tolerated here.

This article, The unofficial death of the G4 processor, says:
Apple lists the current minimum system requirements for the upcoming Mac OS X Leopard as a very reasonable “G4 (800 MHz or faster)-, G5- or Intel-based Mac“. This was very welcome news for G4 owners like myself who like to try to keep as many of our machines as current as possible.

However, at this week’s iMac/iLife/iWork unveiling, G4 owners were dealt a stealthy blow to the gut. It seems iMovie ‘08 lists its minimum requirements as “a Mac with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster).” . . .

...and i'm a she, not a he.

How in the heck are we supposed to know that? Nothing in your user name would suggest your gender. Maybe if you were to put that info in your profile we would know.
