Hi everyone!
I finally managed to modify system font on my MBP os x 10.5.8.
No glitches, no errors!
Here's how:
I used a tutorial on Macthemes.net Hybrid/Modification forum that explains how, but they encountered some errors which I managed to fix.
The principle is to generate/modify a font with all same settings as LucidaGrande dfont (data fork font, exclusive to os x 10.5) using FontLab Studio.
LucidaGrande is sytem font on OS X and need to be replaced with modified font with the same name (renamed) in order to work. The best is to do mods on a copy of LucidaGrande.dfont, and just copy/paste new symbols in the same slots as in LG.
I used free font called Sansation, replaced all the symbols from Sansation to LucidaGrande in FontLab Studio, made a new dfont using Generate Suitcase option, named it LucidaGrande.dfont and replaced the existing one in system folders. I provided the aliases to the folders where the fonts should be replaced in the file bellow.

Here's the link to new modified font, if you want to use that one.

Here's a screencast of my desktop with that same font:

And here's the tutorial from where I figured how to hack this (read it before you do any font mods yourself):
MacThemes Forum / [Font]Font Porting Request Thread (includes video)

Notice: Before you do any mods, backup your original font, so you can replace it back if you ever want.
I hope this was helpful. Cheers.

That just seems like a really bad idea to me. Why not just use Tinkertool to change the system font to your liking? It's a freebie.
