Certain files downloading as "txt" files?

Hello.

Recently downloaded a few files off the internet (specifically, they were "packages" for a game-programming engine I use known as Unity). These packages were designed to be applicable to Unity, meaning I could install and run them within the software. However, they all download as .txt files, which I found strange. Am I missing anything, or did I do something wrong? Hopefully this is the proper thread for questions of this nature...I already asked on two separate forums relating to the program I am using and found nothing. I AM operating from a Mac, which is why I tried asking here. If anyone knows anything about this, help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Where did you download these packages from? What format are they supposed to be in? How did you download them?

Can you link the page you downloaded from?

Was the "text" of the(se) file(s) in any normal readable form, or in some sort of goobly-gook computer "code" language???
