I just got an iPad Air 2, which I plan to take on some long trips.

Can anyone recommend a good car charger for this device?

Thanks!

Check on Amazon. The last time I looked for another member they had three or four different chargers that are designed for mobile devices. Also check Best Buy and give a look on eBay.

Thanks, but I was hoping for a more specific recommendation.

I would check out iLuv, I have had that car charger since the lightning cable came out and it is still going strong, it charges my iPhones as well as my iPads. Another option I would suggest is get on amazon and get a small power inverter that plugs into the 12V socket in your car. I have a 300W that has 2 USB ports and 2 wall sockets in it that I am able to charge my phone, iPad and mac with at the same time.

Hi Bev - those 12 V car adapters receive mix reviews on Amazon, so read the comments closely, especially the more negative ones; wife had one to charge her previous phone that kept blowing a fuse in our older car.

Instead for car trips now, I bought her a backup battery (shown below) - I have another brand for myself - both of ours can provide two full iPad charges (i.e. have large mAh capacities) - if you want to consider that route, then just make sure the battery pack purchased provides a 2 Amp output (the iPad requires a 10 W charge - 2 A x 5 V). Good luck on your selection. Dave :)

RadDave,

Thanks for that excellent tip. This might be the best way for us, because we also have an older car.

Hi again Bev - the 'hosts' of this forum run periodic deals (see the far right of the top red menu bar) - you've might have gotten their emails - I bought my wife's battery pack from one of the offers (I believe for $40 or so). Dave :)

RadDave,

Thanks again :).

For some reason I'm not able to see "Deals' in Safari (perhaps a preference setting), but I was able to find it with Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.
