Hi, total Mac newbie here so please be gentle.

When I connect to a ftp server whether on my local network or my website (using Connect To Server), I can't write to the directories even if my user ID has permission. I can do it from the command line but not from within OS X. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing, sadly.

Mounting FTP folders in Finder is read only :(

It's a real shame, hopefully this will be addressed in a future version. In the mean time I suggest sticking with ftp or a good GUI client is Cyberduck and it is free.

Has anyone found a fix for this? It really is a shame. I use CyberDuck, which is a great FTP client but many times I need the mounted folder to open and edit the files on a particular application, e.g. FileMaker Pro....Anyone? :eek:neye:

There isn't a 'fix' as such as this is a 'feature'.

Mac OS X supports mounting of Web DAV folders which a read-writable as they use the http transport protocol to download/upload as opposed to the ftp protocol.

Apple may yet address this in a future OS X version, if they did that would be pretty good. They may choose to disallow it for security purposes however.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Can you please tell me how I can make my folder on the server a WebDav folder so that I can mount it? Thanks.
