Can't see text in Pages/Numbers: iWork08 on Mac OS X

I just put iWork 08 on Mac OS X (10.9.4). The programs function fine, however, the text is invisible in Pages/Numbers/Keynote. I can highlight it and then see it. If I try changing the color of the font, I can see a few select colors, but with an odd tint. Any suggestions on what I can do to make the text visible?

Please upgrade your iWork 08 to at least version 09 in order for it to work correctly in Mavericks. iWork 08 applications will install in Mavericks but they do not work right.
