Can't print email

Hi all,
I am using Apple Mail, and I have 1 email which refuses to print either to my printer or as a pdf. It also won't export as a pdf. I get the message "Generating content for pdf", but it never finishes.
Anyone seen this before?

Mac Mini 2012, all software and OSX up to date.

Neilf, can you post a screenshot or two? apple shift 3 to take one.

It eventually did manage to export as a pdf, although the "Generating content for pdf" message never did disappear. I am guessing it had something to do with the way the email was produced, rather than how Mail was trying to print it. It was, after all, just one email message that was exhibiting this issue.
