Can't copy cd's?

I was trying to use Disk Utility to copy an audio cd for my school. But when I try to select Images>New>Image from disk, this option is blanked out meaning I cannot click on it.

Any reason why this might have suddenly happened?
I tried other cd's and the same happens.
And before you ask, the cd is not copy protected.

i dont know why that happens. here are some options. load the cd, copy the files to a folder, insert blank disk and burn the files previously copied. if it is an audio cd, use iTunes. i know it is not the answer, just trying to give you some options.
