I personally would be very leery of adding complexity to a system that is already acting strangely. I also don't think that the SSD has failed. I think something else is going on. I would suggest that you take it, just as it is, to an Apple store and have the folks at the Genius Bar run their diagnostics on it. They can run more complete tests than you can and should be able to tell you what is actually going on. Make an appointment to avoid having to wait for a Genius to break free.

Thx for the reply. Will the Apple store accept a MBA that you can kind'a tell was opened? Is that ok with them? I remember them being very strict - as if they own the machine and they now judge you for daring to touch it :)

They should test it for you. If they think you damaged it, the penalty is in the repair costs. But they should still test it.

Hi Nick. Thank you. Unfortunately I have tried this before - more than once.

Just to be 1000% sure...are you certain you tried this before?? I'm talking about doing Internet Recovery...NOT reinstalling the OS via the Recovery Partition. These are two DIFFERENT methods. Fewer users are aware of the Internet Recovery method.

if you did already try both methods...good deal.:)

- Nick
