Yesterday I upgraded to El Capitan and the "Turn off Bluetooth" button in drop down menu and System Preferences are grayed out. I do not use Bluetooth, Airport or WIFI due to electrosensitivity. How do I turn it off or disable it permanently? Can this be done in Terminal and what is the command? Thank you.

As a suggestion don't double post. Morework for the moderators which they do not like. As the Turn Bluetooth Off is greyed out it is off.

Welcome to the Mac-Forums.

I believe that the reason you lack the function to turn off Bluetooth (BT) is because you don't have any BT devices linked with your Mac.

Connecting a BT device such as a Mouse or Keyboard, automatically activates BT and until you do, BT remains inactive, ie, turned off.

So you need have no concerns about BT being active.

@ OP - agree w/ Harry - if the 'Turn Bluetooth Off' is greyed out, then the service is indeed OFF - you should have another menu selection 'Turn Bluetooth On' which is not gray - see my screen capture below showing my BT menu when the service is ON & OFF - I'm running El Capitan, so you should have the same appearances - also note the BT icon when on and off - is this what you are seeing? Dave :)
