Sounds like part of seting up a brand new Mac...or one that has just had the OS reinstalled. Just choose the "country" (language you want to use)...and continue with the process.

You are correct. However, I can go no further than this screen. That is the problem.

I try to click on the tab that says "Continue" and nothing happens.

I have read the entire manual. I looked and found how to shut the computer off by holding the on button and there should be a question come up to answer but it shuts off completely with no show of a question.

How about more info on this computer:

- Is it brand new?
- Did you just buy it used?
- Has this computer worked fine before?
- If it worked fine before...what happened?
- Has any liquid been spilled on it?

If you cannot click on the "continue" area...maybe something is wrong with the MacBook Pro's trackpad. Are you "tapping to click"?...have you tried "pushing to click" (physical click)?

Any info you can provide may help.

What kind of Mac is it? If it's a laptop, you need to be sure to press down on the pad, as tap-to-click is disabled by default. It goes down just slightly and makes an audible click sound.

If that doesn't work, take it back to the Apple store and show them.

With a new setup, I have found in the past, if I'm not connected to the internet, via WiFi, that I cannot continue onwards. Have you come to that part as yet ?
But please do answer the questions above, posted by Nick.

I bought it used and it did work. macBook Pro 13"

The key was to press on the pad until I could feel and hear the click. I am able to go forward now and able to get it connected to the internet.

Do I want to let the cloud locate the computer?

Everyone, thanks, a bunch. I can sleep well tonight.

I would allow iCloud to keep track of your computer, especially if it's a MacBook. You can certainly use the same account name and password you use on your iMac, though it isn't necessary. I like to keep most things the same across all my devices. Just makes it easier.

Do you still own the iMac?

- If not...sure...why not.
- If yes...maybe do something different...in case both computers are on the same network...and make things confusing.

Yes use the Cloud and make them both Macs the same Apple ID, because when/if you upgrade to Yosemite in the Fall when it comes out, you will want to be using iCloud so all your Macs and iDevices can talk to each other and have the same documents.

If it is about your ID, then use the same acct that is for your Apple ID.
If it is setting up the computer's user acct, you can use what you like.

At some point in the process you will need an Apple ID.

When you get to user accounts set up two, one a simple user and the other with authorized access. In day to day use, just use the simple user. When you are going to install software or set up internet, use the authorized user. There is a check box to indicate whether or not a user is authorized to manage the system.
