Ok, so I got a mac mini for xmas. But I already have 2 iBook G4's and a older G3. My mac mini came with the back up CDs for OSX 10.4. I am currently running 10.3.9 on all other comps. I know that the G3 is too outdated to run anything higher. But does anyone have any suggestions or know how I can install the disks that came with mac mini onto the iBooks so that they are running 10.4?

I tried it a few times, but it just tells me that this software can not be installed on this computer. I was thinking what if I were to erase the drive, start off clean.. but then again I don't want to go and do that if it wont work.

So suggestions, anything comments.. please let me know!

Thanks!

You can't.
Those discs are designed to be used for the Mini and the Mini alone.
It is also illegal to attempt to install it on any other machine, as it is a major violation of the EULA for the software. You may install the software on the Mini, but you may not install it on any other machine, period.

Right, I totaly understand that. Yet in the past I have used my iBook G4 disks and loaded my G3 up with them. I ran into a few bumps but it worked fine, not one problem. I know its totaly illegal, and violates every code and junk. Yet, I paid for it, why not use it. They have pirated OS's out there, so why not use something I actually own. So, if any one has tried and succeded with formating the drive sot hat its blanka nd loading up the OS, please let me know. Maybe I'll ask someone @ the Apple Store...Thanks

You paid for it and you ARE using it, on your mini...that's the only place where you are legally allowed to use it. And just because there are millions of pirated copies of OSes doesn't make it more right or legal.

Anyway, wiping the HD doesn't change anything, the installer on the DVD checks the type of Mac hardware you want to install it on, and will not let you install it on anything else than a mini.
If a guy at an Apple store would tell you how to do it, if there were a possibility, he highly risks to immediately loose his job.
