basicly i have a few questions, im buying a mac, well in the process of saveing. but when i finnaly get round to buying it i will be using it mainly for work. but am also a big music so

1.will keep adding and deleting thousands of songs that are downloaded eventually wear my hard drive out? and make the computer run slower?

2. could i use an ipod to solve this problem and download directly to it, and read the songs off it to play on the computer, therfor bypassing needing to keep rewriting to the hard drive?

You won't necessarily wear your h/d out by transferring songs or other files, for that matter. The capacity of your hard drive or the technology of the computer will become outdated before the h/d wears out. Furthermore, h/d's are so inexpensive these days, that if one were to fail, you could readily replace it.

Second question....the iPod syncs with iTunes on your computer, where the music is stored. Every time you connect your iPod or reboot, with the ipod connected, it tries to sync with itunes, by default. This is selectable and can be performed manually though. If you want to play your tunes from your computer, just play them through iTunes. Don't worry about the h/d. If you do want to play the songs from your iPod, then get something like this:

Never had a harddrive wear out on me and I've always used my computers on a everyday basis. Not a problem.
