I am running Snow Leopard and my intel iMac is capable of the install. I can no longer find Mavericks @ the App Store. Is there any way I can still obtain it? Not sure if I want to install Yosemite at this time unless it is the only option.

Mavericks is no longer available from the Mac App Store. You waited too long to update, update to Yosemite or stay with Snow Leopard. Apple might restore it to the App store at some time in the future but of that we can not be sure.

You can still download Mavericks IF you "purchased" it previous from the Mac App Store. If not, then you have to go to Yosemite as Charlie said.
