I have a unibody macbook that I purchased right when they came out with the unibody thing last year.

Also would putting it in myself void the warranty?

I already have 2GB of RAM and I'm hoping the extra 2GBs will help with playing large movie files (8gb+) and doing multiple things at the same time inc'd downloading.

No you won't void warranty. Apple even shows you how to install these stuff yourself. Linky here. Under section 3 "Boost your MacBook."

This kit is 2GB (2x1GB) which is similar to your Macbook, you have no slot to insert more RAM on Macbook. So, I recommend you buy the kit 4GB(2x2GB) if you want to add more RAM. Also, the model should be DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500).

So the cheapest way to go from my 2gb to 4gb would be to buy 2x2gb?
