Much of my online time is spent in various forums, and I find it very frustrating when my cursor is on the link to a thread, or on the link to a user's screen name; a text box pops up covering part of the content on the screen.

I'd like to disable this so I don't constantly have to hunt for a 'blank' space to park my cursor every time I load a page and wish to scroll through it.

Is that possible?

I'm on Safari 9.1 in OSX 10.11.3.

Thanks!

Thanks cradom.

I read through the instructions in the article, and entered the Terminal commands just as they're presented, but nothing happened with respect to these 'tool tips' popups.

Did you restart? Usually changing stuff doesn't change what's in the cache so it's not read until a restart.

Hmm. I didn't realize that.

In fact, I still haven't restarted, but since waking my MBA from sleep, the setting seems to have taken hold.

Thanks a million!

Correct me if I'm once again mistaken; but are these not these "previews" rather than tooltips?

You are correct Ian and I have already explained that to member Craig in another thread. The previews are a normal part of forum viewing and occur not only in our forums but others also.
