I'm new to Mac and just bought a Macbook Pro yesterday. I have an external firewire drive with an ieee 1394 cable. It won't fit in my Mac firewire port. Is there some type of adaptor I can get? Thanks in advance for the help.

If you have a newer Mac with Firewire and it doesn't look like the connector on your drive it is Firewire 800. Take a look at the ends of the cable in this photo. Belkin - 6' FireWire Cable - F3N404q06-APL One end is the older Firewire 400 connector and the other is Firewire 800.

Glad that helped. I have one of those cables. I don't get to use it often but when I do it works like a charm.
