Is this a movie you Rented or Purchased or are you just looking to find something on your MBP that you saw in Apple TV on your iPhone?

I can't seem to duplicate your problem. I looked for a movie in the Apple TV app on my iPhone, picked one, then looked for the same movie on the Apple TV app on my MBP and found it using the search bar. I repeated this for two more movies with no problem.

yes, exactly.. am looking for a movie I want to watch, but I can find it only in iPhone, not appleTV on the browser... (am enclosing screenshot of what happens when I search for movie "Conclave" on tv.apple.com, on browser, on the computer... on iPhone the movie is there....)

now I noticed that in iPhone AppleTV there are links at the bottom, APPLETV, STORE, LIBRARY....

I also noticed that Apple TV on the phone has both a streaming service, and you can rent or buy individual movies... (you go to STORE to rent or buy movies...)

I don't see a STORE link on AppleTV on the browser, and when I click on a movie, there's no price next to it (to rent or buy), only an ACCEPT FREE TRIAL link.. meaning you can only watch a movie by doing the streaming service free trial thingie..

now this issue is not mine, I watch a whole lot of stuff on my iPhone...
it's for my sister, she watches movies only on her computer, refuses to watch anything on her phone... ;-)

so I guess main issue is, why can you rent or buy movies only on the iPhone and not on the computer?

or am I missing something?

thank you...

After you buy the movie for your sister, she can choose to watch it on her computer.

Edit" I should have said, "after you buy the movie on iOS, for your sister...

When You say "Browser",""Conclave" on tv.apple.com, on browser, on the computer." don't use a browser. There is a Apple TV app for macOS;

That's what I used, on that you can rent, buy or watch content.

The Apple TV app was added to macOS with the release of macOS Catalina on October 7, 2019.

If you do use a browser make sure you use Safari but even then it may not work.
