• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm looking for a one device one cable, preferably lightning to USB same as the one my iPhone uses, to connect a basic camera to my mac mini. While my iPhone has the goods as far as video, the sound is lacking. An external mic works but violates my keep it simple directive. I want something that is probably going to live on a mic clip adapter atop a gooseneck on a flange screwed into my desk's surface.

The idea is to be able to walk into my music room, grab a guitar, click 'new movie' in Quicktime, and start recording. no fuss, no muss, no setting levels, no monitoring. Click and play. I want to use the vast superiority of my mini's HD vs my phone's meager storage.

GoPro is just too expensive, I really don't want to spend anywhere near that much. I'd prefer under 100, as in well under.

Any of these Logitech Webcams will do your job nicely along with good video/audio fidelity. You can get 4K video at $200 price point and HD quality at the $80 and up level. We have a bunch of the HD Pro and Ultra wide HD Pro at my work in all conference rooms and it works really well. Single USB cable and you're done. Good support for Mac as well.
