I just brought Call Of Duty 2 from apple.com for my macbook and I received it today in the mail. I was so excited!

But sadly, when I installed the folder on to my harddrive, then double clicked the icon as I'm told in the booklet, nothing happened. The icon just jumped around a few times then stopped.

My macbook fits all the requirements that are listed on the following link:

Call of Duty 2 - Apple Store (U.S.)

So donno what else could be wrong... Can someone please help!

I have the one that released in 2007, with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz, 120 GB harddrive, 1GBRAM.

Unfortunately, you don't meet the graphics requirement. Your Macbook has the integrated Intel X3100 graphics, while the game calls for an NVIDIA GeForce 5200 or ATI Radeon 9600 or higher, which are both full, discrete GPU-based cards.

I did my research and read many different articles of people who were able to play call of duty 2 on macbooks older/slower than mine!

I also assumed if I can play the demo of the game, which is the first thing I tired. My computer should be able to handle the actual game competely.

I'm really bummed now, I just brought a game that after all I can't play... when everything seemed to lead me to believe I could.

Hopefully I can return it... if not now I own a 50+ dollar paper weight. :(

PS: This is the one of the articles I've read:

Yankidank - The Macbook and Call of Duty 2

^How's that possible?

Not sure, I'm just going by the stated requirements. How much memory do you have?

Yeah, I would also recommend popping in another 1GB module to bring it up to 2GB. The author of that blog had 1.25GB of RAM.

Do note that some of your memory is eaten up by the integrated graphics. So, that might be your issue.

I've been meaning upgrade my ram to 2gb, just haven't gotten around to it...

Hopefully that's the issue... but I just read the youtube users specs and he said he was running on 516mb ram!

Anyway, I call the makers and see what they have to say.

Thanks for the help!

I'm on OSX 10.4.11 and have had similar problems with The Sims 2. Apparently the new version of Quicktime makes some programs just "bounce" when you click on them and not load, and 10.4.11 users have been unable to fix the problem with patches etc.

I don't suppose it could be that in your case, too? Have you tried looking for patches for the game?

Yeah, it should work. I have the x3100 as well, and I play COD 4. I just updated my card's drivers. :)

(Keeping in mind that I installed it on my bootcamp partition.)

Glad it worked out for you.

Do you think COD4 would work outside of bootcamp on our macbooks?

Just wondering, since I'm thinking of MAYBE getting it... donno yet.
