Broken Screen - Suggestions?

Hi guys,

I've got an iMac late 2006 with a broken screen (see image attached). How can I fix it? Any advice on what exactly to look for and buy? And any advice on where I can find an iMac for parts for sale or a new screen for sale?

How can I fix it?

Fixing it means replacing it. Places to check prices & availability:

- eBay
- powerbookmedic.com
- ifixit.com

Be warned. A Late 2006 iMac is not worth all that much. You may find that a replacement display panel for it may be pretty pricey. Possibily pricey enough to be better off spending the same money + some cash...will get you a newer used Mac.

But do some searching...maybe you will come across something affordable.

i agree my used 2006 cost me 300.00 a replacement screen at the time was 800.00

Alas not worth the expenditure. Any chance the break may bbe covered by home and/or contents insurance?

Even $150.00+ for a 17" replacement screen, if that's the correct size, would be a bit questionable these days, but maybe some cheaper ones somewhere, but some still asking over $600.00 which would be absurd :
