Brand new Out-of-the-box Macbook not working?

I just got a new MBP and i am in the process of setting it up, its on Mavericks and it just got the the screen where it asks me if I want to set up filevault. And thats it... i clicked yes and its now been about 20 minutes where I get the rainbow wheel.

Is this normal? Is something happening? when i set up my first MBP I don't remember this happening?

Do I need to start again or is an extended delay after setting up filevault normal?

It may very well take some time depending on your hardware. For example, this person had to wait at least 12 minutes on a fresh install.

It can take a while give it an hour and a half and if it still isnt doing anything then take it to apple
