boot up problem

URGENT!!!!!!


ok well my macbook wont bootup the little spinny circle thing wont stop spinning and nothing happens, anyways this occured after i did a system update and clicked restart.

according to apple its a firmware issue and they said i need my OSX disks to fix it and then the phone cut out.

how do i fix it with my disks? and if i need to reinstall OSX will it delete all my previous files/music?

Do the oll;
battery out, hold power for like 10 secs
wang battery back in, leave it for a bit
try again

if that fails, it'll prolly have to come to the restore disks, which I think will kill all of your data. sorry dude.

Haaaaang on here! Reinstalling from your original install CD will not erase your data, unless you specifically tell it to. Just choose to Archive and Install, read each screen carefully, go slow, but you will be fine. Do you know for a fact that it is a firm ware issue? If so, do the firm ware update before you let the Software Update take over. Otherwise you will end up in the same place. When it comes time to do the 10.4.9 update, don't have any other programs running!

I agree with Sherman Homan. When I downloaded an open source software it asked for X11 to be installed and the only way to do it is to use the install CD, follow the instructions and choose my options. It reinstalled the system software but didn't touch my data.
