I'm going to say you have three choices:

1. Low cost $20-$30 batteries on eBay.
2. Lower than Apple cost replacement batteries at OWC (macsales.com)…about $89.
3. Apple replacement batteries (about $129).

Before you ask if the $20-$30 batteries are as good as the $129 Apple batteries. What do you think?? Basically you get what you pay for!;) Most folks go for the OWC batteries. Pretty good batteries that cost less than Apple.

A new battery for an Apple MacBook or MacBook Pro is going to be expensive if you want to purchase one that will last and work just as the original battery. You can find cheap knock off batteries for your MacBook on eBay or Craig's List.

A good replacement battery can be ordered from Apple or from Other World Computing (Mac Sales). The Apple battery will cost around $125.00 while the one from Other World Computing is $99.00.

If you want a battery that has no risk of burning your computer/yourself/your home down, get the OWC or NewerTech batteries or the Apple batteries. They are known to be safe. Cheapy batteries have this annoying tendency to explode/catch fire.
