Hi all,
Just had a kidney removed so I've got time on my hands while I'm recovering.
As much as we'd like to have bought iphones, we simply can't afford them so we settled for a couple of Oppo A15's. We're both pleased with the way they work but would like to keep stuff backed up to the macbook air or the imac. Does anyone know if I'm likely to run into trouble, or is it pretty simple?

Hey Pete:

Hope everything is well with you and you're recovering okay.

Take a look at this which gives some ideas on how to backup your Android phone to your Mac:

Thanks mate. Those apps didn't recognise the Oppo phone. I'll have another search on the web. I'm just a bit dubious about downloading from companies/people I don't know.

It seems the Oppo does not use android as an OS. Then your best option is to use a cloud service to do the backup to. You can use google drive, amazon drive, iCloud, OneDrive, etc.

Thanks for that Bob. I never suspected that the Oppo used a different OS other than Android.

As a matter of fact, I had not even heard of an Oppo phone before Pete's post.

Ha ha, no wonder it wouldn't work and trust me to find an oddball. I'll have a look through later when I feel a bit better. Thanks to all for the help.

I've just had a look on Amazon U.K. and according to them the OS is Android 10.0?

Interesting looking phone though Hoody. Like you mate I can't warrant iPhone priced and have a Motorolla Moto G7 Power. Good enough for me and I have this odd thing because I actually use it as a phone, my Canon camera for photos and our Macs for things like internet and emails.

I think that I may be a bit odd sometimes? Hope that you feel better soon mate!

Just realised that my sister and brother-in-law live just down the way from you. Near Ballina.

Ha ha. I'm no good trying to see things on the web with a phone and yes, I still prefer a camera too. We've got a Canon DSLR but then decided to go a bit smaller with a Nikon Coolpix B700. No need for extra lenses.
Ballina just down the way from me is about 200 miles, so a fair walk. :)

I got our eldest son to help me and we've now got it linked to icloud where I can now make use of the 200GB of paid for storage. All our photo's are now on the imac, the macbook air, the Oppo, icloud and google drive, as well as CCC clones with the imac and macbook. The reason I'm so particular about this is because our youngest son had a computer crash and he lost all his photo's. It cost him over $900.00 to get them back via a specialist firm.
I'll leave you to argue about the OS for the Oppo. ;)

Me? Argue?

Never mate

As a lot on here know, I'm changing everything over to our nice new iMac M1 and I now have about 4 external HDDs. Most of them with copies of my photos. Plus Time Machine. There's no way to have too many backups.
