Automatically launch a CD?

Hi,

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything...

I currently create CDs for Windows.

They contain packaged Flash files and also have a .inf file that allows the CD to automatically start when inserted.

I want to use this CD on a MAC OS X aswell, and am in the process of developing content.

Now. I'm not that familiar with the MAC environment...

I know I can use Toast to burn a CD that should work in both environments, but my question is:

Is autoboot possible like it is in Windows? Can I create an file / application that will start the CD when inserted? I've had conflicting advice as to whether or not this is feasible.

If so, are there any good tutorials around? If not, would it be best to create a shortcut on the desktop to be opened?

Any help / links would be most appreciated.

Cheers,

G.

Not AFAIK, but you can customize the background of the CD's top folder that opens automatically when it's put it.

Most companies add their logo and a "Click here" image pointing to the icon/app that needs to be launched.

Remember: Mac users are used to launching apps of cd's themselves, so doing it otherwise is more likely to confuse/annoy your customers than just doing it "the mac way".

Besides: Autoplay on Windows is a pain.

Hi,

OK, looks like I'm a little too used to creating applications for Windows ;-)

I'll keep at it, but if that's the consensus I'll probably just look into creating a shortcut / customised launcher for the main application.

Thanks very much for your response.

Autoplay isn't that bad either. In PC land it's very easy to do aswell. Just a slightly different way of approaching things...

Cheers,

I don't beleive there is an auto play function in OS X. I only see it happen when you insert a CD/DVD, then an application runs (.i.e DVD player or iTunes).
