ATV3 and iTunes 12.0.1 (yosemtie)

I had been avoiding updating my appletv for a while and now that I have..... Mistake! I have lost sound .... again! This happened before so I had restored my apple tv back to factory settings which fixed the problem.

A year + later after all new updates and new software etc, I updated Appletv and my iMac to Yosemite. All worked fine until this last ATV update which had lost my sound.

Which brings me back to resetting ATV back to factory settings yet again! BUT... now this new iTunes 12.0.1 wont even see my Apple TV as a device.

WTH? Anyone know what else I can do? Suggestions?

First of all something else may well be in place here. I'm running Yosemite and an ATV 3 with the current software updates. Haven't had any sound issues. It should show if you set iTunes to show devices
