• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi, this might seem very basic, but I'm having trouble, and can't find the answer in the forums.

I just used iMovieHD to capture video from my camcorder. The software divided the video stream up into clips based on scene breaks. I'm not yet ready to edit this video, and I want to save/archive it to HDD as an unaltered DV stream so that I can come back and edit it later on. I'd like to save each of the clips that iMovie created as an individual file. How can I do this?

Why?

Open a second iMovie project, drag clip to it. Move clip to timeline, share as DV, or save project.

haven't actually tried this, but should work.

If the share as DV works, then just drag the clip of interest to the Timeline all by itself, and share as DV, then drag it back out, and do the same for each additional clip. Remember to change the name if it doesn't do it by default.

hope this helps,

Brian
