My parents have decided to get a mac, and suggested that I, being the exclusive mac user, could use the larger hard drive and faster processor on the new macbooks. However, I have a bunch of applications including photoshop and such that i would like to transfer over.

Is it possible to simply copy the apps to my 32gb flash drive and then dump them into the applications folder on the new mac?

If not, how can it be done?

Too many devices to list
They may not be too big but certain apps are installed through pkgs that may scatter files across the filesystem which would make transfer using a flash drive if not impossible, really hard. I'm not a Photoshop user but I do remember trying the demo for Fireworks a while back and it required the use of an installer which I imagine installed files outside of the /Applications directory.

Your best bet is simply to reinstall the apps back on your new machine.

Great advice Vansmith...you read my mind with everything you said!:)

Synstratsg: I'm going to assume you have all of the install disks for all of software you have on your computer...it would just be easier to reinstall everything from the install disks.

Good luck,

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
I third that :)
I went the other way once at it took me soooooo long to track down everything off the external to get all my apps running right, yet alone even launching in some cases..... lots and lots of trial, error, and pulling out my hair.
Next time when I upgraded to Snow Leopard....... I rushed to my install discs, sat back and smiled :)
