Hi all

My Apple TV 4 (A1625 32GB) with OS tvOS 17.5.1 [21L580] have recently at random started just switching off... I would press the menu button and it would switch back on back into the program it was busy with...

Anyone aware of problems on new OS on

I have not had the issue but here is a current article with suggestions to try.

This is going to sound odd but do you happen to have an Apple Watch? I've accidentally brushed my watch against the couch and had it do things like pause a video (more often than I care to admit).

i dont have a apple watch, but well thought outside the box ;)

i have suspicion it is one of the apps, it always seem to happen when using one of our local tv broadcasters streaming app.

as for other points in above doc... all updated, newest versions across the stack,
the unit itself is rebooted every night due to smart home switching various plugs off to conserve power, this happens to be one of them so old windows comment, have you rebooted, in this case always maps to yes ;)

Well I guess if you have tried everything else then your idea of a local streaming app misbehaving could be the issue. I would suggest checking for updates for that app but it sounds like you might be on top of it.

I will admit I have done some interesting things just brushing the round center part of the controller - that thing is sensitive!

Check Settings/General/Sleep After and set it to Never. It may be that your streaming app isn't triggering the sleep function to know that you are actually still there.

it's random,

and if I got to be honest with self and think... it's mostly when i use this streaming app. and well the trust in the company is not anywhere close to even 10%...

So, did you check it or not? The timer starts when activity stops. That could be "random" if you are fiddling with volume, or just touch the remote accidently. You'd be surprised what can reset the sleep timer!

Jake's suggestion is a good one and a nice find. I'm curious to know if this ends up being the cause. Presumably, the app is being "used" as you note that you jump back into what you were watching so I'm imagining that it's preventing the sleep timer from running out.

Will see next couple of days if the behaviour disappears or still there, will revert.
