From Bloomberg.com:

"Apple Computer Inc., the maker of Macintosh personal computers, will open its first directly owned store in Japan later this year, the Nikkei English News reported citing unnamed company officials.

The company opted to open the shop in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district instead of the city's Akihabara region, Japan's biggest electronics area, in order to attract a broader clientele, the report said."
