I was charging my Apple Pencil 2 with my Ipad Pro (11 inches 2018) and the magnetic charger just bent by itself cracking the screen. Since my Apple Care+ expired two weeks ago and the support center said there was nothing they could do. They didn't give me an explanation about what could have happened, and the technician said that it indeed didn't look like something external happened to it, but since they didn't know what happened they considered it as accidental damage.

Does anyone know what could have happened to it? I don't have money to buy a new one, so at least I want to know what could have made this type of damage.

The magnet has to be strong enough to hold the pencil, but I can't imagine there's enough leverage for it to bend the metal around it on the iPad to shatter the screen.

Also, unlike the magsafe charger, it's not a recessed port, just a surface contact, so I really can't fathom physically how this could've happened.

In this case, it truly is accidental and and if you are past your AppleCare+, then you're unfortunately out of luck with Apple.

You can look at finding the replacement screen yourself and see if you want to take on that job. Going to a place that will do it for you will run you a pretty penny. When I had checked a while back for iPhone screens, it was nearly 50-60% of the device cost, so expect the iPad Pro to be around $700+ for the screen.
