apple mouse - strange issue with the left click in java apps

Dear All:
I am struggling with a strange issue concerning Apple Mouse. The mouse works perfectly with my MBA 2015 (macOS 10.15), except the left click in Java applications: it simply does not work (well, most of the times; more weirdly, it sometimes works, maybe about 1 time in 50 attempts).

The mouse is fine, there is absolutely no problem with the left click in other applications. Alse the Java applications I am speaking about are well tested programs, I have been using them "for ages" and all of them also work correctly with the left click using the MBA's internal touchpad. Other mice also work with these Java applications.

It's hard to believe that this happens, but this is exactly my experience!
Any clues of how this problem can be diagnosed and/or resolved?

I struck the same issue when my granddaughter played the java version of Minecraft on my iMac. The quick work around I found was to "Command+Tab" to any other app then back to java. After that mouse seems to work normally. Can't say why.
