Apple hardware test for 2010 iMac

Is there any way I can get a hardware test for my iMac 2010, 11,3 running El capitan? Apple told me that my machine is vintage and there are no hardware tests for it, or they wouldn't do it. There has to be something out there that I can use.

I went through all of that; can't do it. the computer shipped with leopard or snow leopard, and it won't work with el capitan, unless I misunderstood something.

The AHT, is something it boots into, so it should work, with the install discs that shipped with the Mac. So you would have to restart the Mac, and boot into it that way.

Why don't you tell us what kind of problems you're having? The Apple AHT is not very good at discovering intermittent or difficult to trace problems. It detects bad memory and other simple errors but that's about all I would trust it for.

Do you have the DVD that originally came with your Mac? If you refer to the link in my previous post #5, it will explain how to get to and use the included AHT.

And AHT probably doesn't even know about a fraction of the problems the OP and their Mac could be experiencing.

If your iMac is the same or similar to this one, it should be able to run the latest macOS HS:
