I think we've speculated enough about when and if Apple will release a gaming console. Now I'm wondering what the name would be.

It would probably use the i prefix, especially because i stands for internet, and game consoles these days have online access.

The most obvious options are iPlay or iGame. I think iPlay is the most likely, but it may be too much like the Wii game Wii Play or something.

Also, any online service would have to be called .Mac Games or something.

What do you think?

Jobs wouldn't be stupid enough to even attempt at getting in on the games console industry, it's already saturated.

Even Sega threw in the towel, after the awesome Dreamcast was considered a failure!

If Apple released a console as powerful as the PS3, as appealing as the XBOX 360 and as fun as the Wii, have loads of good games on it and sell it all for under £100 for the console and £10 per game, then maybe, just maybe they'd have a shot.

one things for sure, whatever its name, it would likely run off of os x, be tightly integrated into itunes iphoto, ichat etc.... it wouldn't be huge, it would be white, it would cost more than any other console.. you know if the could put a god graphics card in a mini, even if they made the mini slightly bigger it could be a console of sorts with a few mods!

Considering they have a hard enough time getting companies to distribute games for Macs, I can't seem them diving into the Apple Console market anytime soon.

Bad idea. Let Apple stick with what they know best. Good computers and an awesome OS while M$ do what they know best. Sucky OS and a good gaming console.
