App specific passwords requests

All of a sudden on starting up this morning I got an influx of notifications requesting app specific passwords. I already have 2FA on and have for at least 6 months. These apps already had app specific passwords eg my email client Spark and Fantastical, my calendar app but they were no longer in my list at the Apple my ID site. I created new ones, everything went quickly and smoothly but I also note there was a supplemental update to Catalina 10.15.5 this afternoon ostensibly a security update.
Did something happen that I missed?

Same thing happened to me on Fantastical. I didn't take the extra step of verifying the previous password was no longer there, but did create a new one to get it up again. Not sure what the glitch was about.
