I ordered this system last thursday, and I was just wondering what to expect in terms of speed with using dashboard, iLife, and overall performance. Anyone wanna tell a story about their Mac?

Well, I have 2 GB of RAM, but other than that our specs are identical. I think our MacBooks would run around the same speed. I don't think you'll have any troubles doing what you want to do, I haven't on mine. 1 GB should be plenty.

If you dont run photoshop and a virtual machine at the same time, you should be fine with 1GB ram.

Well i have 2 GB of RAM and 160 GB for harddrive and i found that pretty good for running parallels and other stuff at the same time , 1 GB is efficient for middle and light use of the macbook!

I have your exact machine.

From everyday use it is great. When I start to do design work, (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Director, Illustrator) etc usually all at once, it bogs down.

However, I think another GB of ram will solve this. 1 GB isn't that much.

Go to newegg order 2gb ram from G.Skill and install in your macbook.

My labtop is a beast with the added ram, before with only 1 ram it ran good start up took about 40 total seconds about like 30+ programs would bog it down .

With 2gbs ah man it CRAZY system starts in about 15-25 seconds fast fast, programs well lets just say I got tired of running programs that would bog my system.

Internet, audio, video, all kind of ish system runs beautiful. I truly beleive this is the efficiency of apples OS and not neccesarily the hardware but a combunation of both.

My next upgrade will be removing the 80gb hardrive & installing a 160gb 5400rpm. Really wanted to go with a 7200, but currently manufacturers only make a 100gb.

Yeah man my macbook, minus the problems I have with my superdrive ( which will get fit) is amazing!!

4 out of 5, reason for not a perfect score is due to the lack of a graphics card and limited usb/fire/other connections. But I fond ways around all that

, peace

great machine but....

I have the same machine but i also upgraded to 2GB ram from GSkill. Overall, I absolutely love it. Runs all my applications beautifully and OSX is a dream.. I also use parallels to run ArcGIS and Visual Basic flawlessly! HOwever, I have been having 0-2 Kernel Panics a day after installing the Ram. Could be a bad batch. I've returned it and am going to try out Crucial. Hopefully that will fix the problem. Have fun with it!
Cheers-

I have a macbook 1GB ram, 2GHZ processor and 200GB HDD and it totoally pw3ned anything else i have used.
Its great even using photoshop, however i did notice slow rendering on smudge tool when doing large amounts at same time.

Great machine, might upgrade to 2GB next year if i require it.

Let us know how your mac performs :D

I just made the jump from 1.5G4 PB to a new iMac 2.0Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo/1GB Ram, I had the computer a week still amazed at the speed difference. Obviously I knew the iMac would be faster but this is even beyond my expectations.

I have your exact model, and I thought the speed has been good. The only problem I have is when I am running multiple Mac Office programs at the same time, but that is to be expected because they are not native. I am thinking about upgrading the RAM though, just to improve the computer, not because it's needed.

My mac is in a FedEx station an hour away, so I am assuming it will be here tomorrow. I'll be sure to keep you all posted, thanks for all the helpful answers!

It definitely will be there tomorrow. With UPS you may have to question it, but with FedEx it's a sure thing.
