cd/dvd rom eaither one will do ram possibly what would you want for all the pieces

I have 2 g3 ibooks (dual usb) in various states of disrepair, one has the max ram but the screen went out and I have another that I'm not sure what is wrong with it but it won't boot, it has an airport card in it.
