A fairly credible source told me, that there is like barely any virus's for a Mac, well 8 proper ones in fact.....

I normally use Spybot S&D for my windows machines, and am looking for a good equivalent?

Free ones would be a bonus....

Thanks

according to apple, an antivirus app isn't needed, but I use one anyway. ClamXav. it's free.

Per the above, you don't really need any, but if you do WANT one, Clam AV is a good one. Slow, but good.

Stay away from ANYTHING Norton. Norton produces the most intrusive, problematic stuff I have ever used. It is too bad to. "Back in the day" when PCs were new and DOS ruled, Norton was absolutely required software - about the only thing that would keep your PC running. These days, Norton has become bloatware, just like the Window OS which it purports to keep safe.

Mac OS X doesn't really need an AV.

The above is just my opinion, of course!

I've used NetBarrier X5, MacScan, McAfee Virus Shield for Mac and ClamXav and ClamXav is free and seems to work fine. I recommend it. I agree, Never use anything Norton.

:p
