you know those yellow hint boxes that show up anytime you hover over something for more than a couple seconds?

screen shot: http://wilbcorp.com/downloads/yellowbox.png

they show up across all applications, so i'm assuming it's an os thing... how can i prevent these obnoxious boxes from appearing?

i'm on osx 10.6.4

thanks

Those little boxes are known as tooltips. Some people love them and and some people hate them. I can't decide whether I like them or not. I think the more familiar someone is with a piece of software the more the tips get in the way.

If you only want to get rid of them in Safari try the Terminal command listed in the second post of this thread How to hide links when hovering over ...

If you went to get rid of them in all programs you might want to check out something like TinkerTool
