Annoying little white dot on my screen

I have a little tiny white dot on my MBP on the left side of the screen. I've cleaned my screen over and over, but it never came off. It's not a big deal, it's just really annoying because it's only a month old. It's only noticable when the screen is off. Is there anything I can do? I've done a bunch of research, but found nothing.

i would take it to the apple store and have it replaced or fixed if it is brand new. as much as you pay for these they should be perfect

dead pixel? if you are still under warranty, get it replaced.

but he said its only noticeable when the screen is off?

that would eliminate the dead pixel right? at some point there would be a color on there would show that pixel was dead when it was on.

I agree with fletch33, if it were a dead or stuck pixel you should only really see it when the MBP was on where it would appear to be a black speck (dead) or a solid single color (stuck).

It almost sounds like a nick in the screen cover. I agree with everyone else - with the age of the machine, I'd bring it in and get it fixed - brand new, it should be perfect IMHO.

As stated above it is most likely a stuck pixel - dead would be black. Apple will not replace your screen for one dead/stuck pixel. It happened to me too - the first week of using my computer a few pixels died - I accepted it and moved on. None have died since then. When I first received my computer there was also a tiny piece of plastic stuck under the LCD and it really bothered me for a while (incessant shaking does NOT work! ha!) and I called apple and told them but they did not replace it.

I'd get used to it - your computer will never be perfect (even though you think it should be)....

Well, it's not a stuck pixel or a dead pixel since it's noticeable when the display is off. And as far as accepting and getting used to it, that might be OK for you but most folks, myself included, would want to get it replaced.

In your situation, you didn't complain loud enough or see the right person to have you machine exchanged. It should have been swapped out for a new one. Now it's too late.
