Annoying Auto Shut Down

Hey,

Having a little prob here hoping someone knows the answer to.

My iMac G5 10.5.8 is developing a few quirks.

At times the audio will automatically shut down repeatedly

Other times the computer will suddenly put itself to sleep in the middle of use.

Thought it might be a heat thing and installed a temp monitor for the HD and CPU. It runs HD 49°C and the CPU a pretty steady 85°C

Took it apart and cleaned the cooling system, fans, passages, intake screens etc.

Nothing shows up on the 'console' logs

Annoying tho ..... those iMac quad cores are looking better and better. lolololol But regardless, would like to pass this on to the 'mother unit' as will be scads better than her candy colored iMac of yore.

Again with obsessing over the cooling!

It's an iMac G5? Some of those models had issues with bad electrolytic capacitors. The caps would start to leak, and therefore begin to fail intermittently. After a while, your iMac or Power Mac G5 is a very bland gray or bland white paperweight.

Wonder if it would hold a boat? Could use a good anchor now fishin' season is approaching.

Nothing lasts forever eh? Also don't think it owes me a thing, got a zillion hours on 'er.

Too bad tho ...... something sad seeing it fade to gray. Sorta like a favorite dog who's reached the end

But ....... on the other hand, loved every dog I ever owned lololololol

Well... I won't say you should sell it short. Try reinstalling the system software. It could be something simple that would be easily fixed with a fresh install of OS X.

Personally, I hope it's okay
