So the story goes, I have a liquid damaged macbook pro 15" 2009 (2.53ghz), just the logic board. I want to turn it on, and I do not have the top case for it. Is there any contact points on the board that will turn it on? A fellow apple tech and myself have been looking through apple's service guides to try and find something, but keep coming up short. Anyone know of a way to power it on without the top case? Or am i waiting for a top case to come in broken and using that.

Thanks

Well, the entire relay from the top case goes through one cable, so unless you feel like digging for the exact signal sent by the power button and where it goes, you're better off waiting for a top case. I don't have a whole ton of experience with Apple hardware, so I could easily be wrong, but I think it'd be quite a project.

Anyway, what would you be doing with a computer without a topcase?

I don't know exactly what parts you plan to franken (don't think that's a word) from the MBP, but could you just rip out the parts and stack them on the mini?

Also, I'd love to see some pictures when it gets made.
