Alternative to Eudora?

Hi all,

We have a network of 8 Macs for our business and have historically used Eudora for our email client.

One main Mac (EMAIL) is the point of contact for all emails, which are then distributed correctly into separate mail folders for each employee which reside on the EMAIL machine. Each employee then opens their mail folder over the network to deal with their emails.

We do it this way so that:

  • a quick search can be made through all emails we receive from EMAIL
  • to keep them in a central place for ease of backup
  • we can avoid re-sending quite large attachments to separate email boxes for each employee, which they would then have to download, tripling the time to get the email to the employee

We are looking for a good alternative to Eudora that would allow a similar way of working, if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions for software? Is there a better way to distribute emails efficiently to various employees while keeping them accessible from a main machine?

Many thanks. :)

If you don't mind spending some money... Outlook 2011 (from Office 2011) would do what you need. If that's not an option (no Exchange Server) take a look at the latest Mozilla Thunderbird for the Mac. Since it's free, you could run some tests with it first.
