Hey guys, I'm Dan...I have a MacBook, Core Duo w/ 1 GB ram, 80 GB HD, bought in last september. I am currently running 10.4.9 also. Here's the problem:

September I bought my MB (was at house at college) and connected to my Microsoft Wireless G router instantly and has always worked perfectly (i.e: always connects instantly when starting computer or waking from sleep).

When I went home for the summer I either wake from sleep or turn on the computer, the airport icon goes from grey to black as if it connects to my (I believe D-Link) wireless G router then after 2-3 seconds it will goto grey and then another 2 or 3 seconds it will ask me if I would like to join a neighbor's network, which then I have to say no then goto the airport icon and find my home network, then it will connect and stay connected until I restart or put to sleep and wake again.

Both my home and school networks on on my prefered networks list in sys prefs, and thier settings for connecting are identical, My old Dell 5150 Laptop never had any problems connecting to the D-Link (home) router automatically and staying connected. Does anyone know what may be the problem or how I might resolve this issue?

Thanks alot...if any more info is needed, please let me know

Did you try deleting your existing network Locations? Go to the System Preferences, Network and hose them out. Make a new one and try it. I have run into this a couple of times with updates after 10.4.4.

It happened to me before when I connected to other to another wireless network. What I did was to reset my airport setting again.

System Pref > Network > Configure > Airport (set to automatic)
