Hi,

I recently got my mac pro yesterday and am having an issue with my wifi connectivity. I know it's not my router because I'm not having any issues with my macbook, ipad, or ipod touch.

Specifically, the problem is that, when I can get the mac connected to the internet, it is extremely slow (like 2 mins to open my email), and most of the time it will simply lose the connection in the middle of trying to open a webpage or something. Most of the time, however, I am not even able to connect to my network. After switching my airport on and off 5 or 6 times I can usually get it to connect, but, as I said, it is very slow.

I am thinking that there is something wrong with my wifi card or that the placement of the mac might be interfering with something.

Any help anyone can give me is appreciated.

Thanks!:)

Try deleting the account of the Mac Pro and setting up a new account. Assume you are using WPA2 Personal encryption. Also check what Apple System profiler (About this Mac) has to say about the Airport card. Alas they do fail.

Should read something like the following under WiFi in Network:-

I can't delete my account because I'm the admin on the computer.

When I look at the Software Versions, I see that all of them except Airport Utility are below what you have listed. If this is the problem, how would I go about updating everything?

And I believe I only have WPA personal encryption, not WPA2.

Thanks for your help.

Well as administrator you must be able to delete the wifi account. Go into System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Wifi and there you will see your account name in the pane. Highlight the account name, hit the little (-) button and the account will be deleted. Set up another with password etc.

And not under software. Under Network and Wifi is the last entry, assuming you are using Lion or Snow Leopard. Always helps if you provide machine and OS details Vyryl.

Oh I thought you meant the user account. I thought that was a little strange.:Smirk:

Anyway, doing that didn't seem to help.

And I did look at Wi-Fi under Network. Almost all of the Software Versions are below what you have.
