AIFF to AAC, iTunes, Fission

If I convert tracks between these two formats in iTunes will the quality be reduced?

I've edited some tracks in Fission which it saves as AIFF files. These are large. If I import them into iTunes should I then convert them to AAC files, which are smaller?

Unless you're a complete audiophile, you're not going to tell a difference in sound quality.
